Academic and Free Writing Styles

I employ both academic and free writing styles in my blog posts. I choose which of them to apply depending on the topic I am writing about.

This means that I use each of them exclusively for a post but never combined. I enjoy using academic vocabulary as much as I like writing my thoughts in the language embedded in my thoughts.

It takes time to do the research needed to generate an academic-styled article because the evidence is central to any argument or position you advance.

Free-writing on the other hand does not require as much rigour but must contain the truth because I don’t write fiction. Telling the truth can be emotionally draining but that’s the essence of the craft.

I was thinking about the purpose of businesses and decided to document my thoughts. Most of the world’s problems have been caused by profit-oriented corporations. That’s a story for another day.

I should be thinking about my purpose for writing on Medium. I need to be clear about why I write on Medium, who I write for, and to what ends. That’s a thought for today.

I write to heal myself. I write about politics. I write what I feel deeply about. I have a PhD. I am trying to live my best life. I write to share my truths.
