I aim to be imperfect in everything I do because perfection is impossible. Perfectionism paralyses the body and mind and hinders us from adding value to our work.
The art of imperfection is when we have mastered how to let go of expectations of perfection. You are allowed to make mistakes. You are allowed to continuously improve and learn on the job.
When you have a big project to complete, you are allowed to break it down into smaller chunks. As you complete the smaller chunks, you are allowed to celebrate your small wins.
The reason why many of us hide behind perfectionism is that we have not learned to embrace the goodness of mistakes and failures. We are afraid of being judged, we doubt ourselves, and we wait for when a magical flow will arrive from the ethers.
Success is a combination of meticulous planning and divine serendipity. Don’t be too obsessed with planning and getting it right. Do enough planning, and then get to work.
Try not to avoid the anxieties that come with original work production. The presence of anxiety means that you’re on the right track. If we wait for perfection, we will not reach our potential.
I aim to be perfectly imperfect.
